Horsedogs – About

My name is Alexa and I am an artist living in Leipzig, Germany. I am obsessed with collecting images of sitting horses, so I started the project HORSEDOGS.

Horses sometimes sit like dogs. It happens when they return from a lying position to a standing position. Usually it lasts only a few seconds because their anatomy is not made for long sitting. But sometimes they keep on sitting and enjoy themselves.

To me, a sitting horse looks weird and funny, but also strangely mesmerizing: The expression of the horse is calm and majestic. The horse does not care what others think of it. The horse is doing its thing. I want to be like that horse sometimes. Giving myself the freedom to be a freak more often.
